Event Planning

Event planners are hired to save you time and ultimately, to save you money. Our clients are busy, and trying to locate multiple vendors and receive multiple proposals while dealing with all of the other issues of life can be extremely overwhelming. Hiring a planner who knows how to reach professional vendors, ask the appropriate questions and put a budget together could take a few hours but for the average person, could take days and days and then add-on worry and frustration.
You want to hire a planner that you trust has a very good understanding of the type of event you want to host. Not just whether it’s a shower or anniversary party but who are the key people, what is most important, what is the theme, colors, which overall feel – chic, rustic, romantic, traditional, upscale, casual, family style… The planner should know these details and then honor your budget. The planner should understand where you want to spend money and where you need to save money.
If clients are using multiple vendors, it can be a great asset to have a single point person to insure coordination and communication for a smooth outcome.
61% of average markets range from $50-$100 per hour. (Higher end markets range from $100-$149 per hour). To initially serve our clients, rates will start at the $50 per hour rate, with 2 hour minimum and assess rates from there.
If your event is a 2-3 hour Birthday, Anniversary or Shower, plan on the total planning hours not to exceed 4, budgeting a total of $200. This estimate is based on 1897 presenting the client with a proposal for items such as, invitations, floral, cake, rentals of tables, chairs, music, catering, beverage menu and set up.

If a client chooses to utilize our planning services, we will meet to review the overall flow of the event, take extensive notes. After that intake, a proposed estimate will be presented to the client with the detailed number of planning hours listed. If the client agrees on the proposal, the work will begin. The budgeted time will not be exceeded without consent from the client.

1897 Events does not “up charge” any services in the planning process. Each client will simply pay for the agreed upon time spent on planning the event. Any bills will come directly to the client from each vendor, such as the caterer or florist.
